Shelley has been at Herkert Family Eye Care in some capacity since it opened in 1998. After a rewarding career in nursing, she now is our office manager and optician. Shelley enjoys the art of choosing frames, the science of lenses and optics, and the time spent meeting new patients and catching up with current patients. When not at the office, she enjoys running, camping, and hanging with her family. Her greatest accomplishment is being a mom.
“Believe that you can run farther or faster. Believe that you’re young enough, old enough, strong enough and so on to accomplish everything you want to do. Don’t let worn out beliefs stop you from moving beyond yourself.” – John Bingham
Alexis is an American Board of Opticianry certified optician and has been at Herkert Family Eye Care for over 9 years now! Since starting with HFEC she has discovered her love for patient care and helping her patients find the perfect frame fit and experience the best vision possible. Before finding and falling in love with eyecare, she studied theatre at the University of Indianapolis and you may still catch her stage managing in the Indianapolis area. Alexis and her husband love exploring together, whether it is locally or in a brand new place. She loves thrift shops, flea markets, and antique stores where she has no problem finding books or vinyl records to add to their ever-growing collection. When they aren’t exploring, she is likely binge watching a new True Crime podcast or playing Animal Crossing. Alexis is a big animal lover and now has two cats and two dogs, and when she’s at home at least one of them is on her lap.

Toni appreciates being able to bring some of her artistic skill to the office by assisting patients with frame selection, taking staff headshots, and photographing new inventory for the Herkert Family Eye Care Facebook page. When Toni isn’t at the office, she enjoys exercising, watching crime documentaries, and doing freelance photography. She also loves spending time with family, friends, and her pets.
